Iftar at Chicken Rice Shop & TGV Turbo Premiere Screening @ One Utama

Thanks to Nuffnang for the opportunity to grace myself at one of those fabu movie premiere screenings. I actually haven't been one for ages. Two years actually. The last time I ever went to a screening was probably in 2011... (thinking hard... and off into space). I'm not quite sure but it was Altitude.... if I'm not mistaken. That was the last time I ever went to a screening. I think so... Anyway, since I'm not actively blogging once more, I figured I should grab anything any pros that a blogger has while at it. You know, premiere screenings, events, promo launches for new product or campaign, all of the sorts. You'd have to be an awesome blogger with great track records of visitors/readers to your blog to get invited to some of these events, and since I'm not one, I'll just stick to the low-end of the cookie, movie screenings.

Yeah, I was right. The last time I've actually been on a screening was for Altitude, here at TGV, One Utama. The same location that I got this time too, for Turbo's screening. I could tell because I remembered the last time I went to OU was in 2011 and that is such a long time ago. It's a long time because the Old Wing had been renovated last Tuesday (16th July) when I went there for the screening. It looked much more sleek and edgier like the New Wing and they had a lot of refurbishment work done to it.

It is fasting month and we had to scour for iftar locations first before worrying about the movie and after a certain dilemma, we finally chose to break our fast at the Chicken Rice Shop. Originally, we wanted to break our fast at Carls Jr., but they had no outdoor seating (smokers~), and Chicken Rice Shop has it. But I guess we weren't as fast and vulture-like vomit-worthy Muslim couples who had booked the outdoor tables earlier just so that they could get some.... nasty bit of privacy after iftar. I know, that's a lot of hate, but it's mostly true. Why else, would some so-called Muslim couple pick outdoor seating which lacks supervised watch? To do the nasty.... no?

As 'luck' would have it, we just had to settle for the indoor seating. Well, no harm in rushing out to smoke after we break our fast, right? *rolls eyes* Anyway, we were seated next to the kitchen apparition and it was a glass apparition. Imagine how upbeat was the drum tempo in my tummy when I know, just beside me, on the other side of the glass are those, deliciously prepped for serving chicken portions.... *drooling* Whoa, back up~ Still got a few more minutes before iftar and I had to contain my wicked desire. Hahaha.

Well, if there's one thing I can say about our iftar that night was that it was a feast. Like motherfucking glutton of a feast. I just love eating at Chicken Rice Shop. Everyone loves chicken, right?!!! Well, except for vegans, everybody can't resist that juicy soft tender meat of goodness in your mouth. Okay, I know, that is enough salivating over our courses. What we had that night:

Roasted Chicken (Faiz)

Steamed Chicken (Mine)

Prime Honey BBQ Chicken (Mine)

Shrimp Wanton Soup (Mine)

and these two came along with the set:
Bean Sprouts

Nyonya Pai Tee

Okay, I really should have listened to my own advice and not to over-indulge when it comes to breaking our fast. I'm not going to make any excuse for myself, it was glutton. I was consumed by massive glutton over the fact that I haven't been to a Chicken Rice Shop outlet for a long time and I love their chicken and Pai Tee so bad that if I could, I don't mind going much more larger than I am right now, as long as I get to eat these heavenly food every day. I wonder if they put something in their foods... some sort of like a charm to make people want to eat at their restaurant again. Malaysian people would call it as 'pelaris'. Hahahaha. But that is totally out of the question. Sometimes, there are just some food that is so damn good that you don't have to question 'how' but instead you know 'why' it is delicious.

There's actually a new Ramadhan menu special at the Chicken Rice Shop. Percik Grill or something. Of course that would have been a better entry to blog about but for that night, I wanted to sate all my cravings first. That Percik dish can wait... or maybe not. Hahahahaha!

So far, the only other chicken sets that I love than their steamed and honey bbq chicken is the Grilled Butter Chicken which are seasonal item. Like those McDonald's seasonal burgers (GCB & Prosperity). Those Grilled Butter Chicken are so delicious. I remembered eating them back in 2010 when my classmates and I got back from Meghavani's birthday party in Seremban and ate at the Chicken Rice Shop in Giant nearby Stadium Melawati in Shah Alam.

I still could remember the savoury taste of the chicken and how shocked I was to realise the perfect chemistry of creamy buttermilk with the chicken. That was the first time I ever tasted anything like that and it really did open up my views on food chemistry. Anyhow, we finished breaking our fast around 8.15pm and we went out for a puff of ciggy and then I went back inside to the TGV while Faiz went to Starbucks to get drinks. Our tradition: must buy Starbucks drinks wherever we go, if there are.

Imagine my surprise when I got up there and I saw this motherfucking long line of people queuing up to a booth. And there I stood for a while and gasped. I can't believe that these Nuffnangers are already lining up. And what shocked me was that the line was ridiculously long. And then I remembered that only 30 pairs of Nuffnangers are given the passes, and those people lining up obviously have reached more than 30 pairs. So I went cutting away through the line and peeked at the booth. Apparently, there are four other company that are sponsoring the premiere screening of Turbo other than Nuffnang - Star Newspaper, Hitz.fm, Seventeen Magazine, and Fox channel (I think so... >_<). That caught me by surprise. Hahaha. At the Nuffnang booth however, there are already quite a few standing in line already even when people from Nuffnang still aren't there to distribute the screening passes. It makes sense though, because the passes are given based on a first-come-first-serve-basis. So, the ones that came lining up late can enjoy the movie tilting their heads up on the front row, the whole time during the movie. Hehehe.

So, after acquiring the passes, I met up again with Faiz, holding Starbucks drinks in both hands. This time around I wanted to ease up on the coffee and ordered a Vanilla Cream Frappuccino instead and Faiz ordered a Caramel Cream Frappuccino. No caffeine for us tonight. But if I had known what would happen on the next day, I wished I had asked for even more shots of espresso for my frapp. Dang. But that's a different story. We finished our drinks before heading in the movie while smoking a few more cigarettes to kill time.

In all, the movie wasn't all that bad at all. Read my reviews. After the movie it was time to chiao chin and chao~ Thank you again Nuffnang for giving me something to look up for in blogging. A way to say that the world, or at least the advertisers, appreciate bloggers of the world. Thank you, and here's hoping for a chance to be invited to screenings and upcoming events. A demain.
