Therapeutic Tuesday : Heaven by DJ Sammy & Yanou featuring Do

Nothing else beats the great music back in those days. Not saying that the new generations songs' sucks, but there's a certain reason why the oldies and classic have much better values and meaning in their songs, and lasts longer. Even as decades goes by, these songs stand (stand?) strong and inspirational through time.

Game : Awesome August

Hey, y'all. July is coming to a close and August is coming with the promise of the awesome new games. Avid gamers should have been taking down these dates already since these are the release date of new games for PS3 console. Well, not really catering to every gamer's need though. Here are four out a few games that are going to be released in the month of August. These four that I highlighted are the ones that I wish I could play so damn freaking much.

Iftar with Langat Family

Okay, I'm recently on a momentous drive of breaking my fast that has anything to do with buffet-style iftar. Not my fault really, I'm lucky enough and thankful enough to Allah S.W.T. that he blesses us with this holy month and with kindness given us sustenance to keep on living in this earth. Anyhow, this won't be a long one, I just want to share about the iftar on 20th July (Saturday last week) where after such a freaking long time, I finally had the guts to go back to my father's hometown where my father's siblings are organizing a potluck iftar.

If I Were A Naughty Smurfette for a Day…

If I were a naughty Smurfette for a day, this world would be my playground. With insane amount of magical smurf-essence power at my disposal, I shall create mayhem in this land. Soar through the air through wind manipulation, lay siege to everyday citizen by placing hexes on them - scaring the hell out of 'em.

Iftar @ Seoul Garden

Aaargggghhhh finally, after tons and tons of time asking and begging and pleading and hoping, I was finally able to step my foot into the so-called Seoul Garden. As far as I can remember, some of our classmates are like, super crazy on Korean food and so, I guess it came as natural that they'd love it. I was at first quite irritated whenever they would yap and yap about it, particularly because I was on an anti-Korean culture/K-Pop/K-Drama/whatever-it-was because it was the mainstream thing to do. *Hipster alert*

Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel 'IZ' Kamakawiwo'ole

Continuing the spirit from last week, we stop by the motion of our life's wave of destiny, stand still, open your arms wide, close your eyes, and feel your life passes by. Visualize the journey seeking for that something; be it a possession of love or affection from insignificant others, fulfillment of achievement in your life, or that destination at the end of the track, in you heart. Somewhere far, yet still reachable.

But every journey and destination has its hurdles and obstacles. Fret not of these blunders and misfortune but take a deep breath and keep going on. Because we all know, something good, something better, something wonderful is waiting for us at the other side. Take that leap of faith, believe in the possibilities that you dreamed of, and hope that you are moving closer and closer each day to that place just over the rainbow.

'Somewhere over the Rainbow' encourages us to adopt the optimist point of view and grasp the fact that there is something great, waiting in the distance. It is a journey in search for something good. It helps us believe in a place, where you will soon be happy. Whether literal of figurative, it all dependent on your own self. This song teaches us to follow our dreams and that nothing is impossible if you dream big.

Originally titled as 'Over the Rainbow' this beautiful ballad was written by E.Y. Harburg, musically composed by Harold Arlen, and originally performed by Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale for the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. Though this song is adapted so many time by various artistes, such as Eva Cassidy, Danielle Hope, Kylie Minogue and few others, this song retained its glory as Judy's signature song. In our hearts of hearts, this song embodies of what a great entertainer she was.

One particular version, sung by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole version, however stands out from the rest of the covers as his beautiful ukulele medley of this song and 'What a Wonderful World'. With the release of his album titled 'Facing Future', his single of this song topped and rise to many different charts and billboards, gaining popularity by melting a lot of the fan's hearts and moving them to tears. Though many disputes between Judy and Iz as the better performer for this song, they would all agree that both of these great performers are have their own beautiful presentation for the song and that they are happy, somewhere over the rainbow.

"Someday, I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That's where'll you find me
Somewhere, over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to
Oh why, oh why can't I?"

.::Rest In Peace::.

Burger Bakar Abang Burn's Ramadhan Buffet Iftar @ Bandar Tasik Permaisuri

19th June - Friday. This is a belated post really. Hehehe. There's actually not much of a point to do a separate post for this entry since I could just mesh it together with the Abang Burn's Ramadhan Buffet entry because it really was why I went out after all. Hehehehe. But if so, I'd be disturbing the marketing process of that entry by personalizing it with my usual rantings and logging about what we do, where we go, or what we ate. No? An ad entry, should just be as it is.

Ramadhan Buffet @ Burger Bakar Abang Burn

Anyone out there a big motherfucking fan of Burger Bakar Abang Burn? Then rejoice for Abang Burn is currently testing out a special Ramadhan Buffet at his Bandar Tasik Permaisuri outlet as a new project. As you all know, his burgers range from RM8 and more, depending on how burger-crazy you are. Like even for some of those people who ordered those insanely high tower burger (current record stands at 80), who'd guess how much Ringgit that would have costed?

Iftar at Chicken Rice Shop & TGV Turbo Premiere Screening @ One Utama

Thanks to Nuffnang for the opportunity to grace myself at one of those fabu movie premiere screenings. I actually haven't been one for ages. Two years actually. The last time I ever went to a screening was probably in 2011... (thinking hard... and off into space). I'm not quite sure but it was Altitude.... if I'm not mistaken. That was the last time I ever went to a screening. I think so... Anyway, since I'm not actively blogging once more, I figured I should grab anything any pros that a blogger has while at it. You know, premiere screenings, events, promo launches for new product or campaign, all of the sorts. You'd have to be an awesome blogger with great track records of visitors/readers to your blog to get invited to some of these events, and since I'm not one, I'll just stick to the low-end of the cookie, movie screenings.

Ramadhan : Moderation in Consumption

A week have past since the start of Ramadhan. How are you guys feeling? Especially for those who are fasting? Anyway, stay strong, or as Kifly Mally would always say, "stay goddess" okay? Hahahaha. Doesn't matter how colorful or dull your personality is, life should always go on, no matter what people think of you. Anyway, I hope that just because Bazaar Ramadhan will be there the whole month, doesn't mean you can pig out after iftar. Fasting in Ramadhan teaches us to live in moderation. It is not just about eating (although most of the Muslim people can only "fast" on their hunger), it is more than that.

Because everyone knows when it comes to Eid, house visits aren't complete without a spread of cookies for nibbling in between chattering. So, allow me to help you sort out through the messy details of what to get. Whether it is traditional and unique, or simple and sweet, no need to fret. Let me present you, G-Bits Cornflakes Biscuit and  G-Bits Choc Chip Cookies for your troubles.

Dreamworks Turbo : Movie Review

Once again, Dreamworks animation have gone out of their way and into our hearts to provide a family-worthy entertainment. This time around, take a gander at the snail. One of the animals out there that have been known to glacially 'strut' themselves into fame. However, irony is the keyword here. Try to formulate it in your mind throughout this entry. I'll check back on you on that after we've gone through my verdict.

Therapeutic Tuesday : Pure Shores by All Saints

In this hectic, fast paced world that revolves around speed and getting things done fast, have you ever stop for a while, and look at where you've been now? Yes, the world still spins around even as you stop, the world isn't centered around your own self, but it's really something to pause that moment in your life, evaluate what you have, what you're moving towards, and are you really happy the way you are now?

Every one yearns for something; money, fame, possession, love, equality, whatever it is that people want in this world. But getting what we want is never easy. They always says, "those that comes easily, goes away easily too". So, it's perfectly okay to reevaluate your journey so far when you take that immediate pause, and think about what you have been doing so far. Have you reached your destination? Have you claimed what is yours? Have you run far enough?

Take it into your reins, push away any obstacle, tear away the fear, take every risk, all for the sake of something that you want in your life. Be it someone who you love, a dream house you long to live in, a job you've been itching to have, or the life you've been wanting to recreate. Only hard work and strong spiritual/intellectual/physical motivation can bring you closer to what you want, not blindly going through the motion without direction or purpose.

Written by a member of the All Saints, Shaznay Lewis, and produced by William Orbit, Pure Shores is a dream pop song with elements of electronica and ambient music. On the surface interpretation, the song speaks about searching for a place for them to 'relax' and call their own. Maintaining for two weeks on top as number one on the UK Singles Chart, this song was critically praised for being a 'relaxing' song. Listen to this song as you sway by the electronic pop music bring you to a transient state of calm.

"Take me somewhere I can breathe,
I've got so much to see.
This is where I want to be,
In a place I can call mine."
- Shaznay Lewis

Harry Potter & Twilight : Comique en Corrélation

Hey all. How is your Monday going by so far? Mine have been good so far. Well, my boss is busy with an interview session with some VIP. I'll tell you all about it later when I have to do the transcribing. Hahaha. So, this morning, I was cruising the net looking for a particular meme by Professor Snape that Faiz pointed to one of our friend last month, and it was hilarious. Here it is.

New Games : Dragon's Dogma - Dark Arisen & The Art of Remember Me

I haven't been playing Axel for quite some time already. It was because my wireless controller was in a fix that the battery slot compartment was lose and every time I play it kept on coming off. It was frustrating. Another thing was that by using a wireless controller is costly. New batteries every single time the present ones burned out. So, recently I bought a wired port so that I can plug in my controller and used power from the console itself rather than solely relying on the batteries. And it worked well. I my controller was stabilized and there controller won't shut off every now and then. Too bad the wire is quite short though. Which means no more playing games while lying back on our mattresses from afar.

And if only I'd knew that this game outlet sells their disc for only RM8 each, I would have opted to buy my games here from now onward, rather than going back to Ampang at my usual shop at Pandan Kapital. But hey, I'm a regular customer at that shop and they've known me well enough. And they do have better far options actually. This Genius Game outlet, however doesn't have much of discs to select from. They only had two folders of it. But hey, cheap is cheap. Although intentionally, Faiz was the one who wanted to buy games there, as it turns out, I ended buying instead.

Burger Bakar Abang Burn : Al-Lazat

In the events of this holy month of Ramadhan, entrepreneurs aren't letting go of this chance to make extra good deeds to. The famous grilled burger franchise, Burger Bakar Abang Burn too, aren't missing out on this well-served opportunity to bring out the goodness of his burger people all around by eating their new burger.

Introducing Al-Lazat, the new burger introduced to celebrate Ramadhan. This burger compromises of delicious prepped chicken strips in 'percik' sauce that is grilled till it's smokey sweet, mashed on top of crisp lettuce laden with a special secret sauce, then topped with another special Arabic white sauce, all wedged in delicious toasted buns.

Burger Trip : Al-Lazat from Burger Bakar Abg Burn

Monday, 8th June. I was actually waiting for the new burger called Al-Lazat to make its debut at the Burger Bakar Abang Burn chain burger shack since the week before and I finally found out that they started selling it on that Monday (8th June) itself when I was busy checking out Facebook status updates when I saw the announcement. I didn't waste any time at all and quickly contacted Faiz to accompany me to go to Abg Burn's outlet in Danau Kota to taste this burger.

Ramadhan : Abstaining Speeches

It's time to repent, make tons of good deeds and pray to the Almighty Allah S.W.T. for forgiveness and a place in his heavenly afterlife. Yup, as you all know, yesterday mark the first day of Ramadhan, a month of fasting and repentance. I shall not divulge in what Ramadhan entails of, read it up on the internet, tons of reading material or just watch some tele, they are bound to be a lot of commercial or programme that talks about it. Don't be a lazy bum and learn a little.

But today I want to nag about the restraints and constraints that we are supposed to adhere during this holy month. As Muslim everywhere knows, syaiton nir rojim and all of his minions and underlings are locked away, relieving us from all the bad temptations and negligence that has been corrupting us the whole year (following the Islamic calendar) up to this month. They are cast away so that we, as our pure self can act and make a decision about our life without that spiritual influence.  This is the month where Muslim are given a chance to make as many good deeds as they can. Not saying that they can't before but whatever good they do (in Allah's name) during this month, the rewards we got are doubled or tripled or even more (I'm not quite sure how much is it, actually, Wallahuallam). So, we must do our best to make full use of this hallowed month.

Wordless Wednesday : Ramadhan is Here

I wish you all the best of Ramadhan and don't be skipping out on getting more good deeds during this glorious month!

Therapeutic Tuesday : Sky High by Thomas Prime

Every one of us needed an escape. A world of endless possibilities, unlimited imagination, and infinite freedom. By channeling our stress and tension away into these escapades, we are able to flow with the melody, sway with the rhythm, and let go. Every one have their own way of escaping out of their distraught and fatigue. While some chooses to indulge in eating away their troubles, exhaling nicotine through their lungs, or going to spa for a lil bit of an R&R, I prefer the more pragmatic and salutary way of an escapade; music.

Our nerve system, react to music quite well. I don't know about scientifically proven or not (I'm a lil bit lazy to do research right now), but I am pretty sure all of you have experienced this moment before. That moment when the beat of the drums, the zing of the cymbal, the pluck of the guitar, the ping of the piano, the twinge of the violin, and the beautiful melodies created by instruments drowning away the 'screams' and 'shriek' of stress' astriction.

Don't find those heavy metal songs or those cheeky pop songs, those are good to cheer you up, but instrumental music are much of a better option to assuage the tension and stress you develop over times. Plug in your earphones, find some instrumental music (jazz, blues, keys, whatever your preferences are), close your eyes, and listen to the music as they take you away. As you all know, Yasunori Mitsuda is the one responsible for creating the hauntingly beautiful soundtracks for the game Chrono Cross. And the song for today was originally composed by Yasunori himself, titled Dreams of the Shore Near Another World.

Although the original title of the song is called Dreams of the Shore Near Another World, Thomas Prime, edited the soundtrack into a remix of the song, giving it a new name, Sky High. Hailing from London, England, Thomas Prime is a producer responsible for coming up with these powerful compilation of instrumental wonders, such as The Instrumental LP, Vol.2. He's known for his amazing work in Trip-Hop music (a fusion of hip-hop and electronica with the influences of soul, funk, and jazz). Check out more of his work here, give it a whirl, and hopefully his music can let you drift away and forget all the troubles you have been hurdling before.

Mr. Prime is the epitome of trip-hop; The Instrumental LP, Vol. 2 delves into a robust world of symphonic notes, other-worldly melodies and well-structured pieces to create a set of instrumentals for any fan of instrumental music, hip hop or not. - Source cited from here.

Justin Bieber : Un Soulagement Comique

How is your Monday? I decided to break away from my heavy ranting and nagging for today and release some of these HYSTERICALLY awesome photo-shopped and edited images of Justin Bieber which I found on the internet searches last week.

We all need a little break in our work, so, enjoy.

Chrono Cross - Radical Dreamers

Those who live gloriously in the 90s during their childhood would recognise how awesome this game is. The game is awesome, with chronologically twisted plot to boot, and insanely haunting soundtrack which will leave you with a big nostalgic gaping hole of your childhood. Exaggerating? I might be, but that's the truth. Just ask any of those gamers that appreciated the time spent on this game.

One of the particular song from that game which is called 'Radical Dreamers', have the most beautifully-written lyrics on it align with the serene melody composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, and sung by Noriko Mitose. Hauntingly beautiful to the ears of man, this song have been recognised well enough to the media's attention.

Anyhow, a lot of cover have been made as a tribute to this song and one particular youtuber did an English version with a slight difference in the lyrics of the song. I'm not sure whether he wrote the lyrics or it was from another source, but the lyrics fits perfectly into the song and the meaning was still there, albeit a little different. Seeing as how the original translation of the song lyrics (which was in Japanese) into English lyrics doesn't cope with the lengthy pull of Japanese katakana.

So, we had this crazy idea of trying to do a cover of the song, with the alternate English version lyrics of course. Well, it started out as a random thing, trying to sing along with the English lyrics, and somehow we had this silly idea of singing it. We recorded our singing and I edited it into a video which I uploaded in youtube. All I can say is, for some parts of the song, it was a-okay and not too shabby, but some parts are just so dreadful because of our lack of vocal skills such as pitching and breathing technique. It sounded more like those horny or angry cats in the alley, wailing, only to be shooed away by people by splashing cold water to them. Hahahaha.

Burger King's Syiok BBQ Rodeo Burger

This would be my third entry in a row where I talk about burgers. Yes, burgers. I've been on a burger-tastic marathon lately. Well, it wasn't really much of a planned thing and it was more coincidental. Right from the Burgerbyte to the McDonald's Samurai Burger comeback entry, this would be the third. I could imagine myself becoming one of those fat loser who sits in a lounge chair, playing console games, lazing about wearing a clearly tent-like white T-shirt with burger stains all over it. Eeewww....

McDonald's Samurai Burger : Slashing Again

I've been waiting for this delicious motherfucking burger to come into promotion for a long time already and when Faiz told me a couple days back about Samurai Burger is making a comeback, I swore I would not waste any time at all and went for it the day McDonalds started to sell it.

Burgerbyte @ Taman Dato Senu, Sentul

I never heard of this place before, even though I've been living in Bandar Baru Sentul for six months already. Apparently, Burgerbyte was just nearby and only five minutes away from my house or less. I was actually on my Facebook during that time when a friend of mine suggested that I try out Burgerbyte, in response to my updates saying that I was starving. At first I thought, maybe next time because I never knew it was close by.

Therapeutic Tuesday : Goodbye by Spice Girls

When someone have to leave, a 'goodbye' is the perfect word to capture it all. A 'goodbye' can mean a lot of things. A salutation to parting, a gesture to bid your leave, and a motion to signal the end of a moment. Goodbye, can be both good and bad, depending on the situation. But like a famous saying, 'if you love someone, you need to let them go,' it is a mature thing to do to let someone leave, or go, than stringing them along.

But that phrase more belongs to a lover's perspective. In the world of friendship, saying 'goodbye' to a friend is different. It is a different thing than the phrase 'see you later' or 'see you tomorrow'. When you know it's time to let go of a friend, it can be one of the sad moments in your life. But I shall quote another saying, 'friends come and go'. Although it may seemed cruel, do not take it to heart what it meant. Yes, friends come and go, but in our hearts, we shall keep them. Treasure them. Waiting for that one day, where we will soon be reunited.

Recently, we had to say goodbye to our dear Black Swan. I think I have been mentioning her for quite some time already but last Sunday (30th June), was the actual date when we finally said our goodbyes at the KLIA when she finally took flight to the Kangaroo Land. We wish all the best to her future endeavours. So, in the spirit of friendship, and departure, I would like to commemorate this song to all of you, who had to say 'goodbye' to your friends. Those who left you, those who had to leave, those who have forgotten about you, and those who no longer ceased to exist.

Written by Richard Stannard and Matt Rowe along with the four remaining Spice Girls (after Geri Halliwell's departure from the group), this song was about moving on and saying goodbye to the old Spice Girls. Although many fans assumed that this song symbolized the disbanding of the Spice Girls, and after being  assured that it was special tribute to Geri, the fans were right after all. In the spring of 2001, the Spice Girls disbanded to pursue their solo careers. Though it may have seemed that it was such a long time ago, in many of the group's fans' hearts, we all treasure they as they are. And that is why, even after their 'goodbye', Spice Girls, undoubtedly still lives in the hearts of their fan.

"Goodbye, my friend
(I know you're gone, you said you're gone)
(But I can still feel you here)
It's not the end
(Gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fear)

So glad we made it,
time will never change it
no no no...."
-Spice Girls

Transcribing

Lately if you've been following me on my twitter account, you can see that I kept on mentioning about doing some transcribing. Yep. Transcribing. Funny how I, someone who have a small problem in hearing is actually doing transcribing. Transcribe is an act where you put in words the spoken words, mostly ad verbatim. Meaning word by word. I don't actually know what or how people usually transcribe but I can tell for one thing that most journalist do it, especially when interviewing people via voice or tape recorder. It doesn't matter which gadget you use it as the final product is what mattered.
